The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has ordered all airports to boost security and surveillance measures in response to a recent surge in arson assaults.

The regulator wrote a letter to all airports on Tuesday directing them to emphasize fire safety readiness, deploy as many security guards as possible, and do comprehensive security checks on all passengers.

The CAAB is in charge of five domestic airports including Cox’s Bazar, Rajshahi, Jashore, Barishal, and Syedpur, as well as three international airports in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet in Bangladesh.
