Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram of Bangladesh has prohibited vehicles and guests from accessing the terminal driveway ahead of the 13th National Parliament Election due to security concerns.

The airport source said, the decision was taken at the airport security committee’s monthly coordination meeting today (6 January).

According to the notice, the restriction is necessary to safeguard the airport which is classified as a first-category Key Point Installation (KPI) and it reflects the broader security situation.

The terminal driveway will only be accessible by passengers until further notice. Vehicles without passengers and any other visitors will be turned away.

It has been requested that vehicles picking up or dropping off passengers utilize either the cargo parking lot or the main parking area for boarding and disembarking.

Additionally, until additional instructions are given, vehicles entering the main parking area solely to drop off passengers will not be subject to a parking toll, airport authorities said.

In cases involving state dignitaries entitled to use the VIP lounge, a single authorised protocol representative will be allowed to enter, along with the passenger and accompanying family members.

A specific protocol pass will be needed for access.
