Two human rights organizations claim that since the protests started on December 28 of last year, at least 48 protestors have died, sparking more anti-government demonstrations in Iran.
Iranian official television has also shown fights and fires.
Several police officers were killed overnight, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the nation’s supreme leader, earlier attacked protesters, calling them “a bunch of vandals” attempting to “please” US President Donald Trump.
Trump has previously vowed to “hit” Iran “very hard” if demonstrators are killed by Iranian government troops.
The former Iranian crown prince in exile, Reza Pahlavi, requests that Trump be “prepared to intervene” on behalf of the Iranian people.
The collapse of the Iranian currency set off the protests, which started in Tehran and have subsequently expanded to include anti-government demonstrations.
In the meantime, Iran was virtually cut off from the outside world on Friday as a result of officials shutting down the internet to quell escalating discontent and footage showed burning buildings during anti-government demonstrations that were taking place throughout the nation’s cities.
