The U.S. Coast Guard reported that while searching for a missing fishing boat on Friday, rescue workers recovered a body from the seas near Gloucester, a city in Essex County of Massachusetts in the United States.
The Coast Guard sources said, the 72-foot fishing vessel Lily Jean sent out an emergency radio beacon around 6:50 a.m. The agency published an urgent marine information after making an unsuccessful attempt to get in touch with the yacht.
The sources added, rescue personnel dispatched to investigate the area discovered a debris field and removed one “unresponsive body” from the ocean. Additionally, they discovered an abandoned life raft connected to the Lily Jean.
Coast Guard Commander Timothy Jones, who is in charge of the search and rescue, stated, “We will continue to search throughout the night with the cutter, hoping to find additional folks as we continue.” He went on to say that the team was “coming back in full of fish” and that they could have needed to return for repairs due to issues with their fishing equipment.
Jones said, they are “always hoping to find” survivors from the ship.
However, Sector Boston Commander Jamie Frederick, another Coast Guard officer, admitted that the search presents “challenging” issues given that the ship sank and that individuals are being sought in the water.
